I haven’t been blogging much about food lately. But I have been eating quite a lot, ironic isn’t it? It’s just that sometimes I get too hungry and ravage the food before I realised that I have a commitment to this food blog. Oh well..
Anyway, went to Brunch with cousin Judz on a lazy Sunday afternoon at 1 Twenty Six. The first time I went to this place with Ben, we were turned away because there was no seats available. Subsequently I went back a couple of times to Raymond’s party and late night drinks with Judz.
I in fact like 1 Twenty Six better in daytime than night time. It is cool, calm, and the air is crisp. There were plenty of empty seats available, and the small crowd consisted of a middle aged couple in their running attire, a trio of 2 pretty boys and a pretty girl. And then there’s this other couple looking talking over coffee.
Service was prompt but snooty. Yes, the waiting staff had this snooty air about them. But as long as I’m in a good mood, that is not a concern.
Enter the food.
Judz went for the err.. Sunny side ups with sausages, bacon, baked beans & sauteed mushrooms. Share this with a friend if you are not feeling very hungry. The people here are generous with portions!
Brunch menu Item 1: S$18
As for me, I opted for the eggs benedict on toast with Hollandise sauce, with Parma ham and asparagus. Perfect combination of all the food items I love. I am a BIG BIG BIG fan of parma ham, and although the parma ham here is not the best I’ve had, it satisfied my craving. The item I enjoyed most was the crisp and very fresh aparagus.
Brunch menu item 2: S$18
1 Twenty Six is a great place for brunch. It’s away from the hustle and bustle of town and less pretentious then the likes of Dempsey or Wessex. Definitely will be back here soon to try out other items on the menu.
