Eternally hungry & armed with my Canon, I bring you my eating escapades.

White Rabbit

finally managed to get myself and Judz a table at White Rabbit on a Wednesday evening. It’s located diagonally opposite Au Petit Salut (who wants to buy me dinner here?), and unless you are quite blind, you won’t miss it. This new eating institution certainly lived up to its reputation on its much-raved about decor. I was totally awed by the interior, and spent a long time imagining about the many many wedding vows that must have been exchanged previously in its past life as a chapel.

Enter the food. First up was bread. Now, I love bread. and I love it when free flow of bread is served. there are 3 kinds of bread being served here at the White Rabbit – the ciabatta, onion bread and the raisin & walnut bread. I loved all of them and polished off 5 peices. I could have went on if Judz didn’t stop me! the bread is soft and warm, with a very intense aroma. the butter is a disappointment though, would have preferred for it to be more savoury.

Next is entree. We had the Duck Confit Salad, which we were pretty happy with.  The salad itself was tossed with just the right amount of dressing, making it nicely moistened. The duck confit was palatable, and I liked the crunchy duck skin. I would order this dish again in a heartbeat.

We had The White Rabbit Truffle Mac & Cheese as the main course. This is not what I would normally order but since so much has been said about it, I gotta experience it for myself. This is basically a “zhng-ed” macaroni & cheese, a much more glamourized version, to be specific. Honestly, the presentation kindda turned me off quite abit. It gave me the jitters with the “holes” of the macaroni staring at me. Liked the taste, but not for long. The first few mouthfuls were delightful but subsequently, the dish got too bland for my liking. Maybe it’s just my palatte.

We were not very hungry and thus only shared an entree and main course. Normally I won’t pass up on dessert but their dessert menu really didn’t get me at all excited and thus we hoped over to House for my favourite Strawberry Shortcake (which Judz loved to bits too).
I would liken my experience at White Rabbit to mediocre sex. I was heightened with excitement when I stepped in, and the whole experience of dining there was good, but not good enough to warrant an orgasm. and towards the end of the meal, I was already getting impatient to step out for a ciggy & to get my satisfaction and finale for the night elsewhere.

In all fairness though, I will be back at White Rabbit sometime soon to try out other dishes on their menu. Who knows, if I make other choices the next time, I might get an orgasm. Or even multiple ones.

White Rabbit is at 39C, Harding Road
Parking can be a challenge on weekends, as parking space is limited. its free parking though
